What It Is

Natural minor with a raised 6th degree - degree 2 of the major scale. Notes: G#, A#, B, C#, D#, E#, F#.

Minor-sounding but less dark than natural minor, because the raised 6th removes the harshest half step.

Mellow and cool - minor-toned without feeling heavy, a favorite 'thoughtful' or groove-oriented minor sound in jazz and funk.
