What It Is

Natural minor with a raised 6th degree - degree 2 of the major scale. Notes: A, B, C, D, E, F#, G.

Minor-sounding but less dark than natural minor, because the raised 6th removes the harshest half step.

Mellow and cool - minor-toned without feeling heavy, a favorite 'thoughtful' or groove-oriented minor sound in jazz and funk.
