What It Is

Minor pentatonic plus a chromatic 'blue note' - a flatted 5th passing tone between the 4th and perfect 5th. Notes: C, Eb, F, Gb, G, Bb.

The blue note adds tension that resolves into the perfect 5th, the scale's defining melodic gesture.

Raw and expressive - the added blue note gives it a vocal, 'crying' quality plain minor pentatonic doesn't have.
