Minor Primary Progression (i-iv-v)
i-iv-v
progressionAt a Glance
- Formula:
- i-iv-v
What It Is
Tonic, subdominant, dominant, all built from the natural minor scale - the minor-key analog of the major key's primary progression, using the natural (unraised) minor dominant.
How It Functions
Establishes the minor tonic without borrowing the raised leading tone, giving the dominant a softer, less pulling resolution than a major-key V.
